TRAVERSE CITY MI – In an off-season filled with anticipation of a returning core of players from the 2010 Eastern Division Champions season, the Beach Bums are proud to announce that outfielder J.T. Hall has re-signed for the 2011 campaign. “We’re very glad JT wants to come back and play for us next season. Obviously, it’s a priority of his to get back to affiliated ball, but we are ecstatic to have him again for 2011,” said Manager Gregg Langbehn. “He’s no question a leader in the clubhouse by the example he puts forth on the field day in and day out.”

In 2010, Hall finished the season hitting .253 with 8 homeruns and 48 RBI. In addition, he put up 15 doubles and five triples while walking 48 times. In games from June 18 to July 2 Hall put together a 15 game hitting streak with a .403 AVG and piled up three doubles, one triple, along with three homeruns.

Defensively Hall was an important piece of the Beach Bums outfield and was not afraid to flash the leather. As the only player to start all 96 games, he patrolled right field almost every night posting a .975 fielding percentage adding six assists.

Hall was also one of six Beach Bums who represented Traverse City at the All-Star game hosted by the Southern Illinois Miners in Marion, Ill. Starting in right field, Hall went 1-for-4 driving in one of the two runs the East scored as they fell 2-9 to the West Division.

A former Tampa Rays prospect, JT Hall was an important signing for the Beach Bums prior to the 2010 season. A six-year minor league veteran in the Rays farm system, Hall gained valuable experience that could be used to help younger players the Beach Bums acquired. His leadership and veteran presence was a big part of the Beach Bums success in 2010. The Rays selected Hall in the 41st round draft pick of the 2004 MLB Draft out of Southwest Missouri Community College at the age of 20.

“Hall is an impact bat that the opposing manager will have to account for in the lineup,” said Beach Bums Director of Baseball Operations Jason Wuerfel. “He is the type of hitter that can change the face of a game just by his presence in the on-deck circle. He is a dynamic athlete we’re thrilled to add him to the roster.”

The Traverse City Beach Bums members of the Frontier League, an independent baseball league with teams in seven midwest state. The Beach Bums are entering their sixth season of play in 2011. Season tickets are now on sale and are 30% off if purchased and paid for by December 25, 2010 — please phone 231-943-0100 for more information.
